Structured, coached outdoor road rides from our Highland Park location throughout the spring and summer season on real roads, designed to put everything you have built indoors to work outside.
Riding outdoors with Vision Quest is not a casual social spin. It is a coached group training session structured around the same training principles you have been building in the studio. Every outdoor ride is an extension of your VQ training program, not a separate activity. Your coach is on the ride. Your zones still apply. The data still matters.
A VQ coach is on every ride, watching the group, calling out efforts, and giving real-time feedback on positioning, pacing, and execution. You will ride smarter outdoors because of it.
Rides are split into clearly defined ability groups based on your FTP and power-to-weight ratio. Everyone rides at the right level.
Every ride route is available on Ride With GPS before you show up. Load it to your Garmin, Wahoo, or phone before the ride so you always know where you are going.
Outdoor rides run from spring through summer each year, departing from our Highland Park location. The weekly schedule gives you structured midweek rides and a longer group effort on Saturdays and Sundays. It's a rhythm that builds real outdoor fitness progressively across the season.
Structured interval-based effort on local roads. Focused on specific power targets — tempo, threshold, and VO2 efforts designed to develop outdoor fitness progressively through the season.

View ScheduleA controlled aerobic effort the day after your hard Saturday ride. Designed to flush the legs, maintain movement quality, and add volume without digging into your recovery.
View ScheduleAll VQ outdoor riders go through specific safety training prior to joining the rides. The outdoor ride safety training is specifically designed by VQ coaches for our riders.
Apply power built in the studio to real roads, real climbs, and real group dynamics. Outdoor rides are where the indoor work becomes outdoor performance.
Race performance on the road is not just about watts. It is about handling, pacing, positioning in a group, and managing effort across varied terrain. Coached outdoor rides develop all of those skills.
The combination of a coach on the road and a group of athletes training at the same level creates an accountability structure that consistently produces better efforts than riding alone.
Our ability-matched groups mean you will be challenged on every ride, pushing you to the next level!
Outdoor rides are open to VQ members. If you are not yet a member and are interested in joining the outdoor ride program, start with a free consultation and we will walk you through the best way to get involved based on your current fitness and goals.
Group placement is based on your FTP and power-to-weight ratio. If you have done an FTP test or VO2 Max test at VQ, your coach will know exactly which group is right for you. If you are new and have not been tested yet, talk to a coach before your first ride and they will place you appropriately based on your riding background.
Currently the coached outdoor ride program runs out of our Highland Park location. Chicago members interested in outdoor riding are welcome to join the Highland Park rides or speak with a coach about building outdoor sessions into a personalized virtual coaching plan.
